June 16, 2026 .At present, Thailand has a vision and policy to develop the country's economy and society by applying knowledge in science and technology to create new innovations and industries, and has designated target industries as the New Engine of Growth in 10 clusters. Several target industry groups, including agriculture and biotechnology, food processing, biofuel and biochemical production, wellness tourism, and integrated medicine, are directly or indirectly involved in the use of Biological and Genetic Resources derived from Biodiversity, which is one of Thailand's strengths. Knowledge and technology in biology, genomics and genetics, and related sciences are being applied in agriculture and agro-industry, food technology and biotechnology, energy production, chemicals and biochemicals, food production and processing, healthy foods, dietary supplements, cosmeceuticals, biologics for disease prevention and treatment, diagnostic methods, drugs and pharmaceuticals, and so on. The application of knowledge and technology in biology, genomics and genetics, and these related sciences can give rise to a great deal of innovation, industry, job creation, services, companies and businesses in new forms and approaches, leading to progress and strength in Thailand's economy and society.
……..The Genetics Society of Thailand, as an academic society in genetics and related sciences serving as a hub for researchers, academics, experts, qualified specialists, and the general public, has recognized the benefits and importance of applying knowledge and technology in biology, genomics and genetics, and the aforementioned related sciences to create progress and strength in Thailand's economy and society. It therefore organizes the academic conference Recent Advances in Genomics and Genetics 2018 Conference (RAGG2018): Innovative Genomics and Genetics, with content focused primarily on the use of knowledge and technology in biology, genomics and genetics, and related fields. This covers the knowledge and academic disciplines of the society's three main areas—Human Genetics, Agricultural Genetics, and Basic Genetics—and the expertise distributed across all 16 of the society's academic networks, for application and utilization to create innovation, industry, business and services, both in terms of value-adding and in new approaches, at present and in the future.
